Here is today's suggested daily PE/Wellness activity. With the weather calling for a bit of a damp day, today is a great day to stay inside and focus on recharging, refreshing, and relaxing yourself with a quick 30 min yoga practice. The video I am sharing today is a yoga practice from "Yoga with Adriene" on youtube, and if focusing on trying to fight off some of the negative feelings or habit we may be falling into during these days of isolation. This practice is a great way to try and focus on the positive, and connect with your body and emotions to refocus on what you can control, and let go of what you can't!

This is a great practice for student's of all ages, and I think we can all benefit from a little refection during this time!

Have a great day, and weekend folks!

Here is the suggested daily activity for today. Since the weather is calling for a wet day, it might be the perfect chance to stay inside and focus on some mindfulness and flexibility with a quick yoga practice. The video I am sharing is a 25 min session targeted specifically for students in this age group. It focuses on some guided breathing and simple stretches and poses to facilitate flexibility.

We have been fighting through a lot, mentally and physically, in the past number of weeks, and it is important to take time when you can to try and recharge, refocus, and relax to stay positive while battling the effects of isolation. Yoga is a great way to fight these negative things, and focus on the positive!

Here is the suggested daily PE/Wellness activity for the day. The weather is looking a little bit damp today, so it might be a great day to stay inside and recharge/refresh/refocus yourself with a yoga practice. I am posting a really fun 30 min session from the cosmic kids page on youtube. This is one that I have done in class before with great results. This session is based off of the movie "Frozen", so it's great for all of the Disney fans out there!

You also have the option of completing day 5 of the A-Z challenge today, which can be done inside as well.

Have a great day, and enjoy your weekend!
Here is another daily suggestion brought to you by our district PE Lead Jim Watters. This is another game that is easily adaptable for students of all ages. The video gives a quick breakdown of the basic rules, but you can adjust these rules any way you see fit to make it enjoyable and challenging for any age group. This game is called "NO-GO", and it is an adaptation of a net and wall game, similar to badminton in game play.
To modify the game, you can change the size of the ball, the size of the court, the size of the no-go zone, as well as the time you have to make a play with the ball. For younger students, I recommend starting with a beach ball, or some other larger/light ball that is easy to handle. You can move up from there using a basketball, soccer ball, even a tennis ball.

For students in middle school or grade 9, you can also refer to the weekly activity plan which was posted on Monday for your recommended daily activities.

Another nice day, you can always replace there suggestions with some outdoor activity of your choice, as long as you are getting that heart rate up!

Make sure to post or send me pictures or videos of your activities to the facebook group, I LOVE looking at this page and seeing our students having some fun, and being active. It's a little bit of inspiration for others to follow along!

Be well folks, and have a great day!
Here is today's suggestion for a PE/Wellness activity. This is another simply game that can be modified for students of all ages, so anybody from K-9 can enjoy this one with some modifications. The game is called "Aerobic Bowling" and can be played with as little as 2 players. You can adjust the distance being bowled, number of items, size of the pin, and size of the ball to modify the difficulty to accommodate players of any age.

For students in Middle and High school, you can refer to day 3 of your weekly activity plan for today's activities.

It's going to be another nice day! Like yesterday, it would be a great idea to get outside and help with some outdoor chores to get ready for the spring. If you post pics or videos of completing any outdoor chores or activities, I will also enter your name in for the weekly wellness draw on Monday!

Have a great day folks!
Good morning everyone,

Here is today's suggested PE/Wellness activity. It is a game called "Table top ball" and it is a simple game that is easily modifiable for all ages depending on materials, and skill level. The video goes through all of the progressions and variations. I recommend this game for anyone from kindergarten all the way to grade 9.

For those in middle school and grade 9, you may also refer to day 2 of your weekly activity plan which was posted yesterday.

It's shaping up to be a great day outside, and the snow is starting to dry up. I can tell you from experience, it is great exercise to go outside and rake your lawn! Spend 30 min to an hour outside doing some raking or other yard work, and I promise you will feel the burn. If you post pictures or video's doing some yard work, I will also enter your name into the weekly draw!

Have a great fay folks!

Good morning everyone,

As with the middle school, I am going to try something a bit different this week. I am going to post a weekly plan for your PE/Wellness suggested activities. The file attached is a weekly plan for which each day has some suggested activities. All of the activities listed have hyperlinks to plans or demonstrations of the activities.

Again, these are suggestions, so they can be replaced with some physical activity of your choosing, but this plan is great because it also outlines the curriculum objectives that are being addressed for each day, and the outcomes that are being met. I highly recommend giving it a try for the whole week! Simply open up the file, and follow along!

Have a great day everyone!
