Mr. Sturgeon

Welcome To Our Page

Good morning everyone,

Here are today's recommended PE/Wellness activities. If you are following the weekly guide I posted yesterday, you can refer to DAY #2 for the daily activities. I suggest sticking with these activities as they are related to specific curriculum outcomes for each of the grade levels.

Also, if you are looking a fun game to try today, here is one posted by one of our PE Leads, Paul Mackinnon, called "Hampered in". This is a simple game with multiple variations to fit any age or grade level. All you need are some bundled up socks and a laundry basket. This game is great for developing tracking stills and hand eye coordination.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone,

I am going to stick with the idea of weekly activity guides for Phys. Ed activities. I like the format of giving a plan for the week of structured activities that are hitting measurable curricular outcomes. The daily activities are fun, well organized, and easy to follow, so I can be sure that students are getting exposed to quality resources.

I will also continue to post a daily fun activity or game that can most often be used or modified to fit any age level, just in case students are looking for an extra outlet for some guided physical activity.

I have attached the weekly PE activity plan for all grade levels in this post.

Have a great day everyone!
*** Daily PE/Wellness Activities - May 8 ***

Good morning everyone,

Here are the suggested daily PE/Wellness activities. If you are following along with the weekly activity guide I posted on Monday, you can complete the activities for DAY #5. These activities are strongly encouraged as they are derived from the curricular outcomes for each grade level.

Also, if you are looking for a fun outdoor option, I made a quick video of a simple game yesterday called "Target Toss". This is basically a modified version of washer toss, and can be put together with pretty much any materials you have at home. It could be used as a option for this weeks weekly challenge, as it is a simple game you can enjoy with your family as well!

Reminder that you can submit entries for the weekly challenge all weekend if you like.

Have a great weekend everyone!
Here are the suggested daily PE/Wellness activities for today. If you are following the weekly activity guides posted on Monday, you can refer to DAY #4 of the guide that corresponds to your age group. Again, these are great activities as they are all correlating to grade level curricular outcomes for the students.

Here is an outdoor option for today. It looks like we might avoid the rain, so it may be a nice day to go outside and try some modified disc golf. All you need for this activity in a Frisbee and some targets (either place by you, or naturally occurring like trees, rocks, posts, etc.). I will post a quick video demonstration, as well as an activity guide to go along with it.

Also, I haven't gotten any submissions for original family games yet, so today might be a good day as well to get together with your family for some creative fun!

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone,

Here are your daily PE/Wellness activities for today. For each grade level you can refer DAY #3 in the weekly guide posted on Monday for each age group. 'Once again, i strongly recommend following each set of guided activities for each day, as they are correlated to the curricular outcomes for each grade level.

Also, it's going to be a beautiful day. You can always supplement these activities with some outdoor activities of your choice.

I am going to share a fun and easy outdoor game option as well called "modified lawn bowling". It is super easy to set up, and it can also be modified to be played by just one person, or as many as you like!

Have a great day everyone!
Here are the suggested daily PE/Wellness activities for today.

For all grade levels, you can refer to day 2 of the weekly guide posted for your age group yesterday. Again, these weekly guides are great because all of the activities are directly linked to curricular outcomes, and they are fun as well!

Also, you can participate in this weeks weekly challenge by creating your own family game. I would love to see some cool examples!

Finally, if you are looking for another fun indoor activity today, here is a video of some fun plank games you can play with a partner, and with minimal equipment.

Have a great day folks!

Hello everyone,

I haven't received a ton of submissions for last weeks challenge, so I think I will carry over the entries to this weeks challenge as well. Of course, if you complete the challenge this week, and did last week as well you will get multiple entries into the draw!

This weeks wellness challenge is going to be simply. I want you to create your own family game. Your game can use any materials you have around the house or outside. Your game doesn't have to be sport or activity specific, but can use influences from any game you like. The rules for making your game are simply... you come up with the rules!

The only thing that is required is that there needs to be a scoring system, and there needs to be a way to determine a winning person or team.

Be creative, and try to think outside the box. This is a great way to not only have the student of your household being active, but getting the entire family active as well! These are strange times of isolation and separation, so lets take this opportunity to connect as a family and enjoy each other with some basic, good old fashioned fun and competition!

PLEASE either post to the group or send me a video of your family participating in your game. I love seeing feedback from everyone, and your game might just inspire another family to get active!

If you would like, take it a step further and virtually challenge another family to try your game, or compete against you!

Have fun everybody!!
