Mr. Sturgeon

Welcome To Our Page

In the event that this home learning situation is going to last for a little while, I have decided to use a a daily module approach for the elementary PE. This way, I can give you the full package of daily lessons, as well as descriptions and links to all of the included activities. the link to our first package, which focuses on balance and coordination can be found below.

So, for today's activities I will ask you to refer to "Lesson 1" which can be found on page 10 of the package. Each day, you will find a recommended warm-up, a purposeful practice activity, followed by a "just for fun" activity! As mentioned, desciptikns and links for all of the activities are included in the package.

Have a great day!

Today's recommended activity is going to be a yoga flow. It's been a crazy couple of days, and it would be beneficial for you all to take a few minutes to relax yourselves and try to focus on your body awareness for a little while. I will post a recommended yoga flow, but if there is another one you like better, feel free to do the one you enjoy.

Good morning everyone,

This has been a stressful few days for everyone, especially the students. So, my recommended daily activity today is going to be a simple yoga practice, followed by a quick guided relaxation meditation. The yoga practice will increase the student's heart rates and focus themselves on their body sensations, and the guided relaxation will bring their heart rates back down, while focusing on their breathing and awareness. Hopefully, at the end of the 30 minutes your students will be a little bit more at ease, and a little more relaxed. The links included are for the youtube videos where the practices are found and can be easily played on a phone, laptop, smart tv, or any other connected device.

Good morning everyone!

I know it has been a stressful couple of days for everyone, especially the students. So, for today's activity, I am recommending a simple yoga practice, followed by a guided mindfulness relaxation practice. The yoga will be a bit of an upbeat practice with lots of movement, stretching, and fun! Then, the guided relaxation will bring their heart rates back down, and focus them back to their breathing and body sensations. The links will be to the youtube videos offering the practices, and can easily be played on a phone, laptop, smart tv, or any other connected device.

Have a great day!

To start the week off, I am going to give you an activity log to use to keep track of your daily physical activity. Its pretty simple. I want you to think about a goal for your physical activity each day. Using the log, you are going to say what your goal for the day was, what the activity you used to reach your goal was, and how long you participated for. We will use this as a baseline for now, and I will also throw in some example activities to use each day. For now, its a beautiful day, so my recommended activity for today is to get out into nature and go for a walk/hike or jog. Take a picture of yourself outside and upload it here, or send it to me in an email to matthew.sturgeon@nbed.nb.ca.
