It has been decided that you will be foucsing on Math, Literacy, Science and Social Studies for your daily 2 hours of online learning to go along with 30 minutes of reading and 30 minutes of physical activity.  However, I encourage all of you to continue to explore and develop your technology skills.  I have posted 4 suggested learning opportunities on the BHS MakerSpace page... see link below.  Brilliant Labs has been sharing daily challenges, Engineering Society of NB has been doing weekly challenges, Kids Code has lots of opportunities for sessions and Scratch at Home is an opportunity to work on your coding skills.

Feel free to reach out to me if you are looking for activities to do with technology... email Ashley.Hallihan@nbed.nb.ca

I will continue to add resources to the MakerSpace webpage and follow along on our BHS ICE Centre Facebook page.  Share your creations and have fun!

Assignments... Links to the relevant websites for reading are included in the assignment.

Assignment #2 - Online versus Retail Stores [this was given before we were required to stay home]

Assignment #3 – Covid 19 Impact on Business

Submission... I have included both the Word and PDF versions of the assignments.  For those who have access to Word (can be downloaded as an App), download the assignment and complete. Save it as ‘Your Name – Assignment #’ and attach to an email sent to Ashley.Hallihan@nbed.nb.ca .

For those who do not have access to Word, use the PDF version to access the links and reflection questions.  Using notes or directly in your email, answer the questions and send through email.

Next Week…  Begin to think about a new business venture that reflects our current situation.  I am hoping to continue with the course goal of creating a business plan.  Now, we need to think about an idea that would be possible as an online business.  This could include a product/service that could be viewed online, purchased through e-transfer and delivered at a set location while abiding by our social distancing rules.  There are also opportunities for ideas from physical fitness, food demands, mental wellness and social entrepreneurship (a later lesson where you are doing something for the greater good and not concerned with making a profit).  We will be doing a business model canvas on this new idea starting next week so have ideas ready!

Note...  These tasks are due by Friday and will be posted weekly on Monday's.  Be sure to also check out the BHS Physical Education/Wellness post as it is important to maintain your physical and mental well-being during these times.  Feel free to reach out to me through email anytime as I am here to assist you in your learning.

Parents & Students...

I hope you are all healthy and safe! These are unique and complex times to say the least.  I want you to let you all know that the staff at Blackville School have been conferencing regularly and we are here to support you in any way we can. As teachers, we are creating a variety of ways to support learning at home.  I will being posting on Monday's the weekly learning activities/assignments/tasks with work being submitted by students every Friday.

While we all ensure there is academic content each week to continue your subject learning, a collaborative approach is necessary to ensure the overall well being of all of our students.  Be sure to check out the Blackville School Physical Education/Wellness post each week from both the school homepage as well as on the Facebook group.  As well, participate in any student council activities that are shared on Facebook and Instagram.  I have also included a link to the resources shared by ASDN on their webpage along with an attached document on Emotional Well-Being that was distributed by the Province of NB.

Together, we all need to do our part to STAY HOME, SOCIAL DISTANCE & FLATTEN THE CURVE!  During this journey, there is no reason why the learning has to stop just because we are no longer in a physical classroom environment.  You will be the generation to learn beyond the four walls of the classroom and this experience will better prepare all of us for this type of learning.

Should you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me through email... Ashley.Hallihan@nbed.nb.ca
