Applications for Student Financial Aid have arrived.  Any student who is attending a post-secondary institution in the Fall on a Full-time basis is eligible to apply.  They are encouraging applicants to submit completed applications as soon as possible, even if they have not been officially accepted to their program of study.    There are two options on how to apply:   1) Apply online at Studentaid.gnb.ca                        OR 2) Complete the paper application form   *** Completing the application online gets quicker results, but you are still encouraged to come and pick up an Information Guide from the Guidance Office        
One bursary valued at $500 is available to be won each year.  Eligible students must be a member of the Blackville Credit Union for at least 12 consecutive months with their account in good standing and must be able to provide proof of acceptance to a University, Technical School or Community College.   The bursary is not based on marks only or financial need, the individual must have leadership qualities, hardworking, responsible, well respected by his or her peers, and teachers, confidence, integrity and dedication.   Applications must be dropped off at the Blackville Credit Union by May 31

Stanley Mutual is awarding six Bursaries of $500 to students who live in Northumberland County.  To be eligible to apply you must: 1. Show proof of acceptance as a full time student at a post secondary educational institution (college or university) 2. Applicants must submit an essay of 150 words on History and Benefits of Mutual Insurance. 3. Return completed applications to their office no later than 4:30 p.m. on May 15th    Please come see me for an application

The Northumberland Salmon Protection Agency awards one $500 scholarship annually, in June, to a Grade 12 student living on the Miramichi Watershed Drainage.  Applicants for this scholarship will be considered based upon the following criteria: 1. Must be furthering their education at a recognized post-secondary institution (University or Community College Program) 2. Financial need may be a consideration 3. Must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the Miramichi River, either through volunteer, extra-curricular or community- based activities. 4. A supporting 250-500 word essay discussing the topic "Why is it important to preserve the Miramichi Watershed Drainage?"   Due date is Friday, April 29th, 2011   Please come see me for an application.

Student loan information sessions are going to be offered around the province to inform students and parents about how the program will help them as they attend post-secondary studies in the coming years.    Following are the times and locations of those held in our area: Wednesday, April 6 at 10:40 a.m. at Miramichi Valley High School Thursday, April 18 at 1:40 p.m. at James M. Hill High School Thursday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Miramichi Valley High School    All grade 12 students, who will be attending a post secondary institution in the Fall, and their parents are encouraged to attend.       
The Hugh H. MacKay - James A. MacMurray scholarships are open to residents of the Province of New Brunswick who will graduate from highschool in June and who intend to enroll in a New Brunswick or Nova Scotia University in the Fall of this year.  Scholarships will be awarded, each with a minimum value of $3500 per year for each of the four years of the student's degree programme.   Each candidate must be a high school graduate in the year of application, be an exceptional student and be interested in preparing for a career in business.  Applicants are required to submit a letter indicating personal career aspirations.   Deadline for applications to be received is May 1, 2011.  Please come see me for an application.
