Any grade 11 or 12 students who are interested in possibly becoming a RCMP officer are encouraged to attend.
SEED applcations for Summer Employment have arrived.  Any student who is graduating in June 2011 and planning on attending a post-secondary institution full-time in the Fall is eligible to apply.  You can and are encouraged to APPLY NOW!   Come see me for an application form.

Are you interested in robotics, gaming, web design or computer programming?  Want to see what it's like to study computer science?  Dalhousie's Faculty of Computer Science is hosting its annual CS-Day on February 5th, 2011.   You'll have the opportunity to meet CS students amd entrepreneurs.  You'll also het to tour the CS building, meet CS professors and get a firsthand look at what a computer science education can offer you.  In addition to the workshops you can enjoy a free all-you-can -eat lunch in one of the dining halls as well as participate in a guided campus tour.   For more information please visit the event page at http://www.cs.dal.ca/csday  
   Credit Counselling Services of Atlantic Canada, Inc. (CCSAC) is holding a scholarship competition open to residents of Atlantic Canada (regardless of age) who will be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program for the 2011-2012 academic year. Applications are accepted in both French and English.  Applicants are required to write an essay, with the topic provided by CCSAC. The essay must be the applicant’s original work and be no more than 500 words in length. A $500 bursary dedicated to the memory of J. Dean McAllister is awarded annually by The Schizophrenia Society of Canada to a high school graduate pursuing a degree in the field of Social Sciences.  To be eligible you have to be an upcoming highschool graduate who is entering University or College.  Financial need and involvement in community and extra curricular activities will also be considered in awarding the bursary. Deadline for applications in May 25th. If interested, please see me in the guidance office.

The W. Garfield Weston Awards program was established in 1999 by the generous contribution and vision of The W. Garfield Weston Foundation. Administered by the Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation, the program is designed to recognize outstanding college-bound students who show a strong commitment to their fields of study and are interested in making positive contributions to their communities. Entrance Awards The W. Garfield Weston Awards program will distribute up to 25 Entrance W. Garfield Weston Awards to students entering their first year of college or CEGEP studies in Canada for use during the 2009-2010 academic year. Each Entrance W. Garfield Weston Award comprises a tuition waiver from a consortium college renewable for one or two additional years; an $8,000 stipend renewable for one or two additional years; access to summer program funding, up to $3,500; and mentorship.    Students can apply online at http://www.garfieldwestonawards.ca/en/ or come see me for a paper copy.  Please see the website for additional information or to see if the college of your choice is listed.   Deadline for application is March 29th, 2011
Toyota Canada and the Toyota Canada Foundation in partnership with Earth Day Canada established the Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program to help cultivate and nurture environmental leadership. The Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program encourages and rewards graduating Canadian high school students who have distinguished themselves through environmental community service, extracurricular and volunteer activities, and academic excellence.    The Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program grants 20 awards of $5 000 each annually, to be applied directly towards tuition, books, room and board (where applicable) or other educational expenses for the first year of post-secondary full-time studies in Canada.    Applications can be printed off the website at    http://www.earthday.ca/scholarship/application.php or come see me for a copy.     Application deadline is January 31, 2011.

Dialogue New Brunswick is offering a $1000 scholarship to a grade 12 student who will gradaute from an English High School in New Brunswick. Applications are available at www.dialoguenb.org or from Mrs. Sobey Deadline for applications is Thursday, April 21st, 2011.
