For the remainder of the week, students will finish up their required reading comprehension packets and then you may use the class time to prepare for your other exams (Math 9 and Science 9/Canadian Identitly 9 - whichever exam you have). So please come to class prepared to work on your exam prep for the rest of the week. We will be correcting your reading comprehension packets on Thursday, so please be sure to have all of these finished up by then.

Students were assigned their groups today for the final project for OMAM. Every group made a list of materials they need and decided on Thursday as the day to bring these in to class.
We will dedicate Thursday and Friday as class days to work on these. Tuesday and Wednesday of this week will be dedicated to exam prep. Students will work on reveiw from the novel study and the short story unit. This will be enough prep for you as the exam mainly consist of reading comprehension and writing - writing focused on some short answer questions from the OMAM novel study.
The English 112 Exam is Tuesday, January 26.

Students took home their "Permission to Leave After Exams" note yesterday. Please return these to me ASAP as they need to be handed into the office BEFORE exam week.

We have finished all of our required units. I handed out the exam outline and review work yesterday. Students started working on these in today's class. I have attached all the handouts to this note. Students will watch a film on the Cuban Missile Crisis Monday and Tuesday of next week and then the remainder of the week will be dedicated to exam review. Please come to class prepared to workmon any exam review you may need.
The exam will be written January 28 at 8:30.

Students worked on their newspaper assignments for OMAM today. Thanks so much to those of you who brought in your devices. I am giving you all an extra day to finish up the typing, so the articles will now be due Tuesday, January 12.

Students worked on their newspaper articles for OMAM. Many have their drafts almost finished. Tomorrow's plan was to go to the lab to begin typing them up but all of the labs are booked. So, we discussed it as a class and those students who have laptops at home and are able to bring them to class tomorrow are welcomed to do so. This will give the students an opportunity to get their articles typed up here at school and then they do not have to worry about completing it over the weekend. So if you have a laptop and you have permission to bring it tomorrow, please do.

All grade 9 students will be writing a reading comprehension assessment during the week of exams (January 25-29). We are, therefore, preparing for this for the next two weeks so students will have very limited homework. However, they should all be reading from their independent novels for 20-30 minutes every night.

We began watching the film "Schindler's List" yesterday. Students received their assignmet for this movie yesterday as well. You can begin work on this assignment any time but the second part of the assignment will need to be completed after we finish the movie. If you are having any problems with any of the questions, please come see me.

Please finish up the chapter 4 questions for OMAM. I also handed out the new assignment - a newspaper article for the crime that took place on the ranch. These will be due Monday, January 11.

All storyboard assignments for "The Cremation of Sam Magee" are due by the end of class today.
If you do not get it done, it must be completed for homework. I will collect them at the beginning of class tomorrow (or Wednesday if we have a storm day).

The Storming Juno assignment is due Friday, December 18. We began watching the video on Friday, December 11 and some people were not in class. This film is avaiable on You Tube so if you missed Friday's class, it is STRONGLY recommended that you watch this on your own time in order to complete the assignment properly.
