3) study multiplication facts. This is very important. Some students do not know their multiplication facts and the current unit of fractions will be very difficult to understand without this.  These were assigned as homework at the beginning of second reporting period and it is expected  that those who do not know them should be studying nightly. Please go over these with your child to gage if they need more practice and study at home.

5) Steam projects due Thursday. This is completely optional and will not be marked. Students can display their projects at school for others to see.

Math 

Grade 4 is finishing up multiplication and division and will be tested this week 

Grade 5 is finishing multiplication of double digit and long division with a remainder. They will tested this week  

Extra help was offered today at lunch to help with grade 5 math. 

*** It is very important that students know their multiplication facts in order to move forward in math. Any students struggling will be asked to study these over March Break and moving forward. Grade 5 should have mastered these last year.

Reading

Please be sure students are reading each night. 

Weather 

Please be sure students are prepared for outdoors. They should be bringing snow pants, boots, hats and mittens each day.

Math 

 Please be sure to continue to study your multiplication facts at home if you do not already know them well. We are starting division and we need to understand multiplication in order to understand division. 

 Reading 

Please be sure students are reading each night. It is important to practice, this will increase fluency and help with comprehension.

 Please be sure to use the videos located on my teacher page to help with pronunciation of these words.

 Gym

 Please be sure all students bring a change of gym clothes with them each gym day (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday).

 Weather 

Students go outside daily and are expected to dress appropriately for the weather. This includes hat, mittens and snow pants.

Please see below message from Mr. Halliihan concerning after school MakerSpace.  


Any grade 3 - 5 students that are interested in working on a project idea in the MakerSpace after school on Tuesday's must submit an application through the BHS ICE Centre website... here is the link:  
https://www.bhsice.com/elementary-gr-3-5-maker-club.html  Students will be accepted depending on their project idea in a particular technology.  If there are too many students interested in one technology, some students will be asked to apply another week.  Students who do not have a project idea will not be accepted and all students must have a drive arranged for pickup at 4pm.

Reading Challenge

Our class will be participating in a reading challenge this week. As part of their nightly homework, students will be asked to complete some of the challenges at home.                                 

Tuesday: Read your French book out loud to someone at home. Can be any person in your household and does not have to be the entire book. Students are encouraged to read some of their French book, and explain the passage to the person listening.

Wednesday: Read your French book while snuggled up in your favorite blanket with a stuffed animal.

Thursday: Draw a picture inspired by something that happened in your book.
