Visit From Mr. Waye!

Our class was very priviledge today to have a visit from Mr. Waye who is the District 16 Science Specialist.  The students loved the interactive lesson on Friction that he taught them.  We are so gracious that he took time out of his busy day to come and share it with us here in Blackville.  His expertise was greatly appreciated.  Talk about what the students learned tonight at supper, they will surprise you with their knowledge!

Mr. Waye visited our classroom today to do a Science lesson on Friction.  The students loved him and his interactive lesson.  The learned many different aspects of Friction.  We are very lucky to have opportunities like these in our school days.  Thank you Mr. Waye!!!

Homework for Tuesday May 4th, 2010

Again tonight, the class has homework.  Along with their 20 minutes of reading (which they do every night) they also have to finish their final copy of their Mother's Day contest.  Make sure that they write neatly as presentation is part of their mark.  Tomorrow the class also has Physical Education, so make sure they pack their gym clothes along with their sneakers as it is flip-flop season and the students should wear sneakers on their feet for their safety!  Enjoy your evening and this amazing weather!

Let's Skippit District 16

District 16 students are invited to the Gretna Green Elementary School gym every Wednesday for 3:30 pm to take part in “Let's Skippit District 16”. This event, expected to last an hour, is open to students of any age from D16 schools and will give participants a chance to learn new skipping tricks with short and long ropes, practice Double Dutch and have a good deal of fun along the way. Skippers could be selected to be members of the District 16 Skipping Demonstration Team. Skipping is recognized as being an excellent activity for the development of aerobic fitness.

Homework for May 3rd, 2010

Homework for Monday May 3rd, 2010 ~ As you all know, I am not a promoter of homework.  I want my students to go home and enjoy their evenings with their families, like I like to do with my own.  The students work hard all day, and I don't believe they should have to go home and work hard all evening too.  Studies have shown that homework does nothing for students until they are upper Middle School age. I do have to give homework tonight, since there is a writing contest through LIFE Radio.  This is a contest entitled "My Mother Is a Hard Worker."  The due date is Thursday May 6th, but unfortunately there is no school this day.  I am wanting the stories to be completed tomorrow so that the students can be consulted with tomorrow during our "Daily Five."  I know my class will do a super job on these writing projects.  Good luck class!
