The ancient China projects are starting to roll in.  It was so exciting to see some of the projects.  I will post the Presentation pictures on the site for parents to see the great exhibit of talent in my class!  Enjoy!
I am very excited for this week!  I have lots of fun things planned, starting today with our Health class experiment.  I am going to show the students the fat in a Big Mac.  Stay tuned for some pictures. As well, the students are starting to present many incredible Ancient China projects.  I am very pleased with the quality of presentations that I have received thus far, and am looking forward to seeing many more this week.  Just a reminder that these projects are due the first of June, so there are only two weeks left to work on them. It is sad that we do not have Mr. Case here with us this week, but the class is adjusting well to me again. It is our end of unit Science test on Wednesday, and today I will be giving the students their study notes for this unit.  I am confident that they will all do well on the test, as our hands-on-activites that we do in class are sticking with them.  I am starting our Ancient Greece unit in Social Studies and this will be our last unit for the rest of the year.  I am very anxious to start the baseball unit in Phys. Ed with the students, as to me there is no other sport (besides gymnastics) that is this fun!!! I am looking forward to being in the class full-time with my students again this week and getting lots of work done as we only have 6 weeks of school left before we end our journey together.  Enjoy the sunshine everyone, it is going to be a GREAT week!!!

We are very sad to be saying good-bye to our student intern, Mr. Case.  He touch the students' lives and was very inspirational to them all.  We would like to wish him luck in his future teaching career, and hopefully someday he will find the time to stop on the way home from Fredericton to see his very special grade 5 class.  We will miss you, but thank you for everything!
Congratulations to the Blackville School Student of the week, Hillary Curtis from our class!  Hillary was chosen because of how kind, sweet and polite she is to everyone and what an affect that her personality brings to her classmates, her teacher and all that are around her.  Her smile is contagious, which makes our days in Grade 5TH that much more enjoyable!  Thank you Hillary for being YOU!

Even though I do not teach math, I thought I would post a document containing many Grade 5 mental math strategies on my Teacher Page.  I am sure that Mrs. Turcotte gave the students something similar to this, but being a parent, I know how hard it is to work mental math with your child.  It came from a very gracious Grade 5 teacher from our district.  Hopefully all my students will take advantage of this document, that you can find posted under my calendar on the right of this page, and study it hard for their Provincial Math Assessments that will be coming up the first of June.

Here is the outline of the Ancient China Social Studies project that is due at the end of this month.  I sent home a copy of this for all the students, but I thought if I put it here the students can have it at their finger tips at home as well.
