CHOIR AND BAND SPRING CONCERT 2016

     Blackville School will be presenting its annual Choir and Band Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 25/16 at 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria.  This will feature performances by the Blackville School Elementary Choir, the Blackville School Girls’ Choir, the Blackville School Jazz Band along with the Grade 9U Band Class, and vocal soloists.  Admission is at the door:  Adults $5.00  Students $2.00.  Fudge, beverages, and tickets on a 50/50 Draw will be available for sale during the concert.  All choir and band students are asked to arrive at the cafeteria for the concert at 6:40 p.m. for warm-ups and a sound check before the concert.  Come and “swing into spring” and enjoy some of our school’s great musical talent!

DRESS REHEARSAL FOR CHOIRS (SPRING CONCERT)

 

      There will be a Dress Rehearsal for all choir students in both the Elementary Choir and the Blackville School Girls’ Choir on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in the cafeteria from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.  Students should have all of their props with them at the dress rehearsal.  A pizza treat will be served during the rehearsal.  Grade 2 students of the Elementary Choir will have to stay after school in order to attend the rehearsal at 3:00 p.m.  Parents are asked to contact Miss Frenette at the school if there are any questions or concerns.

School Sportsmanship of the Year Awards

 

This award aims to recognize a school, whose athletes, coaches and fans promote what sportsmanship is all about in every aspect of high school athletics.

     Congratulations to our Blackville School Elementary Choir and our Blackville School Girls’ Choir for achieving a Gold Standard at last week’s Miramichi Regional Music Festival 2016.  Miss Frenette and all of the choir students would sincerely like to thank our piano accompanist, Mrs. Margaret Craig for doing such a fabulous job as our accompanist at the festival.  We would also like to thank the parent volunteers – Tracey Hallihan, Sarah Mullin, Cindy Hallihan, and Elana Hallihan - who traveled on the bus with us for their assistance, it was greatly appreciated.

  MUSIC FESTIVAL SCHEDULE FOR BLACKVILLE SCHOOL CHOIRS

The Miramichi Regional Music Festival will be held this year from April 22 to  April 28.    Choral performances will be held at the Carrefour Beausoleil School Auditorium.

The schedule for our school choirs is as follows:

      THURSDAY, APRIL 28, 2016

 9:35 a.m.   Class 3202   Blackville School Elementary Choir

1.      “If You Sing An Allelu”

2.      “En Roulant Ma Boule”

                     Class 3207   Blackville School Girls’ Choir

1.      “Laudate Dominum”

2.      “The Swallow”

             Both choirs will travel on the same bus which will depart from the school at 8:45 a.m.  Three parent volunteers are needed to travel with choir students on the bus.  Please notify Miss Frenette at the school ASAP if you are available to assist us.

            Elementary Choir students are asked to dress appropriately for this event, no jeans or sneakers.  Members of the Blackville School Girls’ Choir will wear their choir dresses with appropriate footwear.  Since we are performing early in the morning, we will be back in time for the elementary lunch hour at school.  If there are any questions or concerns, please contact Miss Frenette at the school.

Ashlyn Moody has been awarded the JDI NB Scholarship from the University of New Brunswick.  The JDI NB Scholarship is valued at $32000 ($8000 per year for 4 years).
