The relationship between addition and subtraction is best understood with Fact Families.

6+5=11

5+6=11

11-5=6

11-6=5

With the following video, you can stop it and wait for your child to write the fact family then play it to see if they were successful.

Doubles Plus One

Posted: May 11, 2020

Near doubles are facts that are one more than the double or one less than the double.

If you know 6 + 6 = 12 then you should know 6 + 7 = 13 because it is one more than 12 and 6 + 5 = 11 because it is one less than 12.
