On Wednesday, September 28, Blackville School will be participating in the Terry Fox Walk. We are asking all students to bring a Loonie to donate to cancer research on behalf of Blackville School.
The walk will begin at 9:45. Grades k-4 will be walking around the school. They will walk 4 times around the school which will be a little over 1 km. Grades 5-12 will walk back MacLaggan Drive to the fork in the road which is approximately 3 kms.
We are inviting all parents to join us on Wednesday.
On Thursday evening September 29, staff at Blackville School will be hosting a "Meet the Teacher" opportunity for parents. The purpose of "Meet the Teacher" is not only to meet your child's teacher but to learn about the curriculum they will be taught. It is not meant to be a time for parent-teacher interviews.
Meet the Teacher times are as follows:
K - 5 6:00 - 6:30 in their respective classrooms
6 - 8 6:30 - 7:00 in B112
9 - 12 7:00 - 7:30 in C203-C205
The campaign will run from now until the end of February 2012. Schools, communities, and groups can enter their wellness commitments on www.wellnessnb.ca for a chance to win grants of $500 to $1000 to support ongoing wellness initiatives. Make your commitment today, the ball is in your court. Go to the District 16 website to view information regarding our launch which occurred yesterday at the High Elements Course at MVHS. The wellness activity or initiative can be in any of the 4 pillars of wellness.
Cross-country will be starting next week. Any grade 3, 4 and 5 students interested are to meet in the gym at 3:05 on Monday. We will be doing a 1 km run so students are asked to bring proper clothes and footwear. We are asking that parents pick up their child at 3:30. A notice will be given out on Monday with the times for each meet. Our first meet will be Wednesday, September 14 at Nelson School.
Middle School cross-country will also start on Monday and a scheduled race will take place at the Nelson School at 4:00. All runners will need to provide their own transportation.
There will be a Hunter Education course at the Blackville Ranger office starting Sept.12 . There is limited space. Please register by Sept. 08 to hold your spot. Please call 843-2908 for more information.
The Breakfast Program will be starting Monday, September 15. We are in need of volunteers for this important initiative, so if anyone is interested in helping out please contact Maria Dunn or Faith Vickers at 843-2900.
