Welcome to Week 2! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. This week I will be focusing on literacy learning, but please continue to work daily on the posted math learning activities as well (see this week’s learning plan posted below).

Today for literacy, your task is to find a basket, a box or a bag and gather up a collection of books that you can use for Read to Self (students know all about Read to Self as we did this daily in the classroom). Find a space where you can read comfortably for at least 20 minutes every day. Remember to read the whole time, stay in one place, and build up your reading stamina.

Since finding “Good Fit Books” at home can be difficult, it is important to remember that in Grade 2 there are 3 ways to read any book:

1.    * Read using the pictures to tell the story

2.     *Read the words

3.    * Retell the book in your own words

Remember that books can take you on many exciting adventures without leaving your own house. What adventures will you go on today?
