Lights out Canada- April 21st

Rick Mercer does a report regarding lights out Canada on youtube that is worth checking out.By participating in Lights Out, you will be joining other engaged youth and educators across Canada who want to reduce their ecological footprint. It is our generation that will be most affected by global warming and it is up to us to start changing our habits now so that we will have an inhabitable earth in the future. The idea behind Lights Out is that small changes add up to make a big difference. It is within all of our power to commit to making those small changes together. Participating in Lights Out World is not a daunting task. The Lights Out Team has compiled step-by-step instructions and comprehensive lesson plans - the tools you need to make Lights Out a success at your school.

Update for the week of April 11th-15th

Grade 6- Due to the nice weather, we are kicking off this week with some spring discussions and a book! Paragraphs will be started Thursday and title pages due then as well! Grade 7- finishing up your personal inventions due Friday! /25 Good copy of paragraph and power point or smart notebook presentation. Grade 8- Project on les sports extreme choosing a sport and finding the origin, rules and famous players will be done in class. Test Thursday on your numbers!~ Great discussion today!  Keep up the good work. Enjoy the nice weather!!  Next week we will be focusing on narrative writing with Easter inspired themes!

Middle School Mural Contest!!

NEW MURAL in Middle School = Everlasting Impression!!! Interested in creating a new mural for the middle school classroom??? Here's your chance to make an everlasting impression and allow a piece of yourself to withstand the test of time and be displayed on your classroom wall! The Art club is hosting a contest to see who can come up with an idea that relates to Blackville school that will replace the Donald Duck mural in Miss. Hart's room. The mural can include something to do with the school or Blackville as a community. Be creative! The winning drawing will have their mural painted on the wall! We are in the midst of sanding and priming the wall to prepare for this event so all entries must be submitted by April 21st. They should be drawn with a pencil on blank paper with the students name, grade, age, teacher. The drawing will then be blown up and projected on the wall. Update for the week of April 4th-8th

Grade 6- Started to discuss and describe the characteristics of our robots and present them to the class. Our paragraphs are in the works and will be starting a new unit soon!      Grade 7- EUREKA!! Grade 7's are working on their own personnel inventions! They have to create their own invention: Describe it, the importance of it, the social impact and you have to create or draw one. Finishing the paragraph tomorrow and the students will have to write their own as well as a smartnotebook or powerpoint presentation worth /25 marks. I'm really excited to see what you brainstorm! BE CREATIVE!    Grade 8- Paragraphs on la fin de semaine are due Tomorrow in class. We are working on the dangers of sports and the injuries that can occur while playing them. We will finish those paragraphs up on Monday and continue in the unit! Great work! Keep up the effort.

Update for the week of March 28-April 1st!

Report Cards were passed out today and I hope you all were pleased! No school on Thursday or Friday due to parent teacher meetings.Thursday evening and Friday morning are parent interviews. Invite your parents to come and chat!Grade 6- Were working on the book " Les robots ravageur" and are practicing the play. Great job reading!Grade 7- We started a new book on les inventions and will be working on the compte rendu tomorrow.Grade 8- All stories must be handed in by tomorrow on La jour du Saint Patrick and the weekend. Started a new book and will be continuing it tomorrow on les sports extremes!Great work this week Middle School!!! Have a relaxing and restful long weekend! Le vendredi, le premier avril c'est "Le poisson d'avril" mais il n'y a pas d'ecole!!!  :)
