BURGER KING® Scholars Program is awarding scholarships in the amount of $50000, $25000, $5000 and $1000 to successful applicants.   Application period opens Nov. 15, 2011 and closes Jan. 10, 2012 Applicants must: **Be residents of the Canada  **Be graduating from grade 12  **Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent **Plan to enroll full-time for the entire 2012-13 academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university,   or vocational-technical school   If interested, you have to apply online following this link: https://www.scholarshipamerica.org/burgerkingscholars/ Students are required to register for the site.

The AARAO Career Expo is this week.  Parents of all highschool students are invited to attend on Wednesday, October 12 from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Miramichi Valley High School.  Grade 12 students will be bused to MVHS on Thursday, October 13 at 8:30a.m.  This is a great opportunity for students and parents to have their questions answered about post-secondary education.  Those who have attended in the past have found it very beneficial!

Notice to grade 12 students who are applying for programs at NBCC that applications should be received by NBCC no later than November 1st for your best chance at getting a seat in your program of choice.  Please come and book a time during Flex with me and I will help you with your application.                                                                                                       Mrs.Sherrard 
The Miramichi Chapter of the Irish Canadian Cultural Association of N.B. is pleased to be supporting a bursary program for students graduating in the 2011 academic year.  These bursaries will be awarded to students of Irish descent. First priority will go to students whose parents or grandparents are members of the Miramichi chapter.  To apply students must submit their name, their parent's and grandparent's names to the school's Guidance Office. Names should be submitted no later than June 9, 2011.  The scholarship is valued at $250.
Northumberland Co-operative Limited is pleased to announce they will be offering six (6) scholarships to students entering a post secondary program in the fall. The scholarships have been named to honour the work of Charles Butler and William Vickers, two men who made outstanding contributions to the development and growth of Northumberland Co-operative Limited.   The scholarships are valued at $1000.00 each. Application deadline is June 24, 2011.   In order to apply students must be entering a post secondary educational program in September, 2011. The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement, extra-curricular or community participation and need. Consideration will be given to those entering careers in agriculture or related industries.   Two (2) scholarships are reserved for children of employees or members of Northumberland Co-operative. The other four will be awarded to students within Northumberland’s service area of New Brunswick; of these four, two will be awarded to students attending New Brunswick Community College.
The Miramichi Chamber of Commerce is awarding one $1000 scholarship to a student in the Miramichi Region. Eligibility: ***Must be registered as a full-time student in a first-year program of a post-secondary school by September followng the school year of application. ***Must have sponsorship from an educator that knows the applicant at the same school and a reference letter from him/her ***Must include a motivational letter outlining their reasons for application, their goals, and relevant background ***Must provide an up-to-date transcript of their academic records ***Must submit a resume    The selection criteria is based on: Academic results, financial circumstances, program registered in (students attending business related programs will be given priority consideration), career aspirations, motivational letters, awards, volunteer work and dedication to the community.   Deadline for applications is June 10, 2011   
Applications for Student Financial Aid have arrived.  Any student who is attending a post-secondary institution in the Fall on a Full-time basis is eligible to apply.  They are encouraging applicants to submit completed applications as soon as possible, even if they have not been officially accepted to their program of study.    There are two options on how to apply:   1) Apply online at Studentaid.gnb.ca                        OR 2) Complete the paper application form   *** Completing the application online gets quicker results, but you are still encouraged to come and pick up an Information Guide from the Guidance Office        
One bursary valued at $500 is available to be won each year.  Eligible students must be a member of the Blackville Credit Union for at least 12 consecutive months with their account in good standing and must be able to provide proof of acceptance to a University, Technical School or Community College.   The bursary is not based on marks only or financial need, the individual must have leadership qualities, hardworking, responsible, well respected by his or her peers, and teachers, confidence, integrity and dedication.   Applications must be dropped off at the Blackville Credit Union by May 31
