Today we continued rehearsing for the play Ducktails and Bobbysox.

Today students finished their quiz on chapters 1-10 from Cowboys Don’t Cry.  We then read aloud and discussed chapters 12 and 13.  Students spent the remainder of the class working on their questions and Journal entries.

I began the class by having students read silently for 15 minutes.  We then discussed the comprehension questions from the both poems on page 7 of Poetic Insight.   Students then students copied notes on Helen Porter. We then studied the poem Housewife. Finally, students spent the remainder of the class completing the comprehension questions.  The notes on the author and the questions are attached.

Today completed a 5 minute Quick Write which we shared with a partner. I then had students read silently for 10 minutes. Finally, students continued working on their children’s story.

We then studied both poems on page 7 of Poetic Insights. Finally, students spent the remainder of the class completing the comprehension questions.  The notes on the author and the questions are attached.

I began the class by having students read silently for 15 minutes.  I collected the Demand Writing piece where they compare I am a Rock and No Man is am Island.  WE had a pre reading discussion on the poem Military Parade, and then students copied notes on the author of the poem Carl Sandburg.  Finally, we read and discussed the poem and students spent the remainder of the class completing the comprehension questions.  The notes on the author and the questions are attached.
