Blackville School held their Recognition Awards Ceremony on Monday, June 1. Grade 12 student Graham Manderville and grade 11 student Ashlyn Moody received the Most Outstanding Academic and Extra-curricular Awards.

Manderville also received the Fenton Sturgeon Memorial Award which is awarded to a grade 12 student who has been involved in sports for all four years of high school. Special consideration is given to students who have volunteered their time coaching younger athletes outside school hours.

High School Male Athlete of the Year went to Graham Manderville and High School Female Athlete of the Year went to grade 10 student Kailey Donovan. The Kathy McCormack Award, recognizing athletes who are great school ambassadors, went to grade 12 student Larissa Bryenton.

Middle School Male Athlete went to Denver Donovan and Middle School Female Athlete went to Tori Sullivan.

           Congratulations to all of our Choir and Band students and vocal soloists who gave a fabulous performance at our annual Choir and Band Spring Concert held on the evening of Tuesday, May 26, 2015. A special thanks to Graham Manderville and Brooke Underhill who did an excellent job as emcees at our program.  We would also like to extend our thanks to Mr. Buggie, Mrs.  Pamela Underhill, Mrs. Twila Sturgeon, Mrs. Sobey, and other staff, students and parents who assisted at the concert.   It was greatly appreciated!

           After receiving gold standards at the Miramichi Regional Music Festival, both of our school choirs were recommended by the choral adjudicator to compete at provincials.  The Provincial Choral Competition results for 2015 are as follows:    

Class 108 – Florine Despres Award – School Choir, 12 years of age and under 

      First Place   Blackville School Elementary Choir

Class 106 – David Ouchterlony Award – School Choir, 16 years of age and under

      First Place   Blackville School Girls’ Choir

      Recommeded to advance to the National Music Festival

          Hats off to all of our choir students!  All of your hard work in choir throughout the year has produced great results. You have made Blackville School and the community of Blackville very proud!

 

Brody Nash - UNB Entrance Scholarship for 2015-2016 - $2500.00.  Brody was also Blackville School's nominee for the Schulich Leader Scholarship.

Moranda Frenette - UNB Renewable Opportunity Entrance Scholarship valued at $1000 annually.

 

Blackville School will be presenting its annual Choir and Band Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.  in the school cafeteria.  This concert will feature performances by the Blackville Elementary Choir, the Blackville School Girls’ Choir, the Blackville School Jazz Band along with the Grade 9U Band Class, and various vocal solos.

Beverages, fudge, and tickets on a 50/50 draw will be sold at the canteen during the concert.

Admission is at the door:  Adults $5.00  and Students $2.00.  All choir and band students are asked to arrive at the cafeteria by 6:40 p.m. for a warm-up and a sound check before the concert.
