Home Learning Plan

Mon. April 20th – Fri. Apr. 24th

1.      Read 20 minutes silently at least 3 days a week.

2.      Complete 2 of the attached options for Quickwrites this week (I have one listed for every day and while you are free to do it every day for 5 minutes, aim for 2; same format as we did in class everyday) Feel free to share these with me via email, Microsoft Teams or on our weekly call. I encourage you to share your writing with somebody at home too.

3.      Read and respond to this week’s Common Lit assignments (one fiction, one non-fiction). Please try to make notes or highlight what the instructions suggest you should focus on for each reading.

4.      Try to complete two IXL.com Language Arts activities (if you need a login, just email me or ask when I call for a check in this week).

Quickwrites

Monday

Create a list of 5 things you want to do with your friends when you can get together again. Explain why you chose these things.

Tuesday

Think of what your school is like at lunchtime. Pick one particular place, and picture it in your mind. This place could be large or small. In a composition, describe clearly to a friend what the place is like at lunchtime so your friend can imagine what it is like to be there.

Wednesday

It has been said that television has little real educational value. What is your opinion on this issue? State your opinion and support it with convincing reasons. Be sure to explain your reasons in detail.

Thursday

Think about the last time you attended a special event such as a concert, a fair, or a sports event. Describe what it was like to be there and include sights, sounds, and smells that will make the reader feel he or she is there with you.

Friday

Make a bucket list of 3-5 places you would like to visit. What do you want to do or see at each place?
