Shad Valley is a STEAM based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) summer program offering students the opportunity to expand a student's understanding of the role of STEAM topics through real world projects. A typical day at Shad includes classroom activities, field trips, and outdoor and recreational activities. Students live in residence at one of the many SHAD host university campuses. The cost of the program is $5,800.00 and financial assistance is available. The SHAD 2020 program takes place from July 5 - 31, and is open to students currently in Grade 10 and 11. The deadline for applications is November 18, 2019. For more information or to apply, visit www.shad.ca (link is external).
There will be an information session for anyone interested in participating in the Rotary Exchange program on Tuesday, Oct.8 @ 6:30 at Miramichi Optometry Clinic. Both short term (one month during the summer) and long term (full school year) exchanges are available. It is a good opportunity to visit a new country and to learn a new language and culture. Deadline to apply is Dec. 15th and applicants must be between 15-18 years of age. Please contact greg@mirop.ca if you plan to attend the info session. Space is limited.
