Wear Pink Day - February 23rd

Posted: February 18, 2011

On February 23rd, Blackville School students and staff will be celebrating Bully Awareness Week by wearing a pink shirt. Pink Shirt Day began in Nova Scotia where two students stood up to bullying in their high school. A male student was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. These students showed their support for him by buying pink shirts and encouraging other students to wear them.To learn more about this story visit www.pinkshirtday.ca.Let's take a stand against bullying by showing our support and wear a pink shirt. The staff will also be watching for random acts of kindness withing the student community by participating in our "Caught You Caring" event. We want our students to spend their days in an environment that is safe and supportive and where bullying is less likely to occur so give somebody a compliment, hold a door open for somebody, or do something else that shows you care.
