May 23, 2011   Parents and Guardians of Grade 5 and 6 students...On Thursday, May 26th, Grade 5 students will begin the Provincial Math Assessment.  Students are asked to get plenty of rest and are asked to bring two pencils, an eraser, and a pencil sharpener.  They will be writing over three days, from 8:35- 9:35.  Your child can also bring a bottle of water, if they wish.  I have been going over all the outcomes and strands and it is hoped that you will review this with your child.  There is a mental math component, therefore, please review facts, nightly.  As well, I gave the students terms and concepts that should be looked at.  The abc/123 questions are also encouraged.  Tutoring will be on Wednesday.  I had to cancel Tuesday's tutoring, due to a meeting.   Grade 6 is presently working on Data collecting and Probability.  This will be their last unit, after which we will be doing review of concepts.   Any questions regarding the assessment, please call.   If we do not plant knowledge when young, it will give us no shade when we are old.Lord Chesterfield                                                                    Have a great week, Mrs. R.
