I began the class by having students read silently for 15 minutes.  I collected the Demand Writing piece where they compare I am a Rock and No Man is am Island.  WE had a pre reading discussion on the poem Military Parade, and then students copied notes on the author of the poem Carl Sandburg.  Finally, we read and discussed the poem and students spent the remainder of the class completing the comprehension questions.  The notes on the author and the questions are attached.

Today we finished watching 8 Seconds, and then they began their quiz on chapters

 

1-10 from Cowboys Don’t Cry.

I began the class by having students read silently for 15 minutes.  Students spent the remainder of the class working on their Demand Writing piece where they compare I am a Rock and No Man is am Island.  These are due for homework.

Today completed a 5 minute Quick Write which we shared with a partner. I then had students read silently for 10 minutes. Finally, students began working on their children’s story.

Today was used as a day to get everyone caught up on late or missing assignments.

I began the class by having students read silently for 15 minutes.  We then discussed the comprehension questions from the poem I am a Rock as well as the Rhyme Scheme Review.  Finally, I assigned a Demand Writing piece when they compare I am a Rock and No Man is am Island.  They also have tomorrow’s class to complete the assignment.  The assignment is attached.
