This is a note on weekly words:

Students are not required to study these words at home. Students are always given time in class to work on these words and understand their meaning. The purpose of weekly words this year is for students to expand their vocabulary and is not to focus on spelling. Spelling is of course still very important however the purpose this year is to expand their vocabulary. If you would like to work on weekly words at home you may have students create sentences using their weekly words. By the end of the week students should be able to create a sentence using each word.
